Week 2 - Animals Assignment

http://animalpicturesforkids.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Hi students, parents, and guardians! This week we will be focusing on animal classification! This will prepare us for our trip to the zoo on Friday. Parents, your child will be able to identify animals from each of the five categories of vertebrates and group them accordingly. In class we have started to make a poster for each of the five categories, which include mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and birds. For homework I want each student to bring in 2 pictures of an animal in each of the five categories, so all together you will have 10 different pictures of animals.

Another activity I would like you all to do is to tell the class what your favorite animal is. I would like a few sentences describing this animal and for you to draw a picture of it as well.
Questions to focus on include:
- What category does this animal go in?
- Where does this animal live?
- What does this animal eat?
- Can you have this animal as a pet?
- Fun facts?

Below is a website that has printable zoo animal worksheets. These are just for fun. Enjoy!

Week 1 - Spelling Homework Assignment

http://watersheddings1.primaryblogger.co.uk/category/english/spelling/
Hello students, parents, and guardians! In class this week, we are focusing on spelling. On Monday each student received a list of words to learn by the end of the week. During class, we practiced writing words out on the board and saying them verbally. We also learned some basic rules to spelling. Throughout this week, we will continue to practice our spelling. For homework, I want each student to sit with their parent, guardian or older sibling and practice spelling the words on the list they received. I will also provide additional practice sheets and activities for your child to use.

I want you all to think about a few things as you go over the list of words:

- What did I do to help me study?
- Did I use the apps or websites Ms. Y gave me?
- What can I improve on for next week?

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me!
